Where Many Employers Go Wrong
Many companies fail to make a real effort to find a
person who is a naturally good fit for a particular
position.
Instead, they try to mold the person they
already have to fit the job—by urging him/her to overcome
their weaknesses.
Intelligent, motivated people can work against their
aptitudes but are rarely happy or satisfied when doing so.
Those who have difficulty working against their aptitudes
are often made to feel guilty or inferior.
It is much better to be in a position that emphasizes your
natural strengths. In other words, it’s better to accentuate
the positive than to try to overcome the negative. The
latter means wasting good aptitudes while trying to build on
poor ones.
Trying to mold an employee to fit the job is far less
productive than knowing the person’s aptitudes and finding
the right position for the employee.
